Join Kidz Rule USA's Advisory Board

To make Kidz Rule USA as useful as possible for its readers, the editors are creating a board of advisors to help guide the magazine and website. The advisors will suggest story ideas, share their experiences for stories, give feedback about new features, and more.

New articles on positive discipline, how to stay financially secure

As parents, we always strive to do what's best for our children. Sometimes, however, it can be a struggle. We deal with how to discipline our children, how to make sure the family is secure financially, and how to keep everyone healthy.

When it comes to discipline, we might wonder how to discipline our children so that they understand they did something wrong but still retain a good relationship with them. To help answer that question, Dr. Laura Markham offers her suggestions in her article on the benefits of positive discipline.

To help make sure your financially secure, Barbara King explains how to prepare in case you lose your job and what to do should you find yourself in that position.

And when it comes to preventing illness and disease, Dr. Holly Rucco explains in her article how more people are turning to chiropractic care to improve their health and prevent disease.

While parenting is never-ending work -- and for some, worry -- remember to also take time to have fun with your kids. Try having them help you cook, following simple kid-friendly recipes, or make this week's bookmark craft. They're perfect ideas for rainy spring days.

Health, bedtime advice for children

As parents, we constantly worry if our children are happy, healthy, and safe. As my mother can attest, this worrying continues even when your children are grown! Unfortunately, when they're that age, you really can't control them. You can only hope that your influences and all that you've taught them will guide their decision-making.

One thing you can do now while your children are young is teach them healthy eating habits. Increasingly research shows that eating foods rich in Omega-3 fatty acids are crucial to our health. Unfortunately for kids, the best source for this is fish. But if you introduce it early and serve it for dinner a few times a month, chances are your children will eventually take a liking to it. For a dish that appeals to a child's palette, try the Fish Nuggets recipe provided by ilunchbox.com.

In this issue we also provide advice for beating the bedtime blues, give you ideas for celebrating May Day, and suggest a craft your kids can make for Mother's Day gifts.

If you have parenting suggestions, consider becoming a member of Kidz Rule USA's Advisory Board. Share your ideas with us and help guide the direction of our magazine and website.
